memoQ 2015: 32-bit vs 64-bit versions

memoQ 2015 installs with 2 distinct executables, a 32-bit (x86) version and a 64-bit (x64) version.

The 64-bit version is recommended for anyone who can use it, as it is able to use more RAM (32-bit architechture is limited to referencing 4 GB of your RAM). This should make process-heavy project tasks faster.

Note that the 32-bit version (executable: memoQ32.exe) works on both 32-bit operating systems and 64-bit operating systems, while the 64-bit version (executable: memoQ.exe) only works on 64-bit operating systems. You can check what kind of architecture your operating system uses by navigating to System in the Control panel. All VC:s at STP run 64-bit operating systems, so in-house staff should use the 64-bit version.

If you search for memoQ from the Windows Start Menu, you will see 2 different versions where one is suffixed by (x64). This is the 64-bit version. The other version, lacking suffix, is the 32-bit version. Make sure to set your shortcuts or start menu pins to the version you want to be using.
